What is the difference between a Print Head and an Inkjet Cartridge/Tank?

A print head is a metal circuitboard which transfers ink from the reservoir to the page to create text. A print head is a component of an inkjet cartridge and the tank or inkjet cartridge is a term for the reservoir that stores the ink and sits inside the print head. Print heads need to be changed as often as your machine manual states and some must be changed by a technician. Refer to your printer manual.

What is a drum unit/kit and an Imaging drum and what do they do?

A laser beam hits a drum to create a charge which results in the transfer of toner onto the page. An Imaging drum is only a different terminology for a drum unit. The drum needs to be replaced as often as the machine manual states.

What is the difference between a replacement fax roll and a cartridge?

A fax roll is a continuous carbon film whereas a fax cartridge is a plastic unit that contains the replacement fax roll. These need to be replaced as often as the machine manual states.

What is the difference between OEM/Keytek Compatible and Remanufactured products?

OEM is the 'Original Equiptment Manufacturer' the consumables are made by the same company that made the machine. Keytek Compatible is a brand new compatible product made to the same specifications as OEM products and provide the same quality of product always at a lower cost.Keytek Remanufactured products do contain some remanufactured parts but still come with the same product guarantee and provide a high level of quality at even lower prices.

What is a Transfer Roller/Kit?

A transfer roller is used in color printing to transfer all 4 colors simultaneously onto the paper and create an image. It needs to be changed as often as the machine manual states.

What is a Maintenance Kit?

A maintenance kit contains components of the printer that need to be replaced after a certain amount of pages are printed. Please refer to your manual as the number of pages between replacement depends on the type of printer.

What is a Developer Unit?

The developer unit is where the toner is stored prior to being used. It must be replaced as often as your printer manual states.

What is a Toner Waste Bottle and what does it do?

The waste bottle stores surplus or waste toner that is not used in the printing process. It must be replaced as often as the printer manual states.

What is Fuser Oil and what does it do?

Fuser Oil lubricates the fuser roller and helps it to do its job. It can be regarded as maintenance for the printer. It must be replaced as often as the machine manual states.

What is a Toner?

Toner is a powder composition of carbon, plastic, metal and other ingredients manufactured to a set formula to suit a certain type of printer. Each model has its own formulation and is not universal. A toner cartridge is a plastic moulded unit designed to be fitted into a laser printer which when recognised by the printers sensors enables the printer to function.
